Virtual Administrative Assistant FAQs

What is a Virtual Assistant?

A Virtual Assistant does everything, or almost everything, that an administrative assistant would do were they were working with you physically, with a few exceptions.

Is there anything a Virtual Assistant cannot or does not do?

I've yet to run into something I cannot or will not do. I make phone calls and travel arrangements, set appointments, create and edit documents, organize events and schedules, do data entry, data mine and whatever else my clients request of me.

Why would I want or need a Virtual Assistant?

If you have sporadic work, small projects or a tight budget, a Virtual Assistant might be the way to go!

What are some advantages to hiring a Virtual Assistant?

You only pay a Virtual Assistant when they work for you. You don't need to 'create' work for them. You don't pay taxes or insurance for a Virtual Assistant as they are an independent contractor.

Why hire me?

I communicate openly with clients regarding deadlines, expectations and capabilities. I believe in being brutally honest, working hard and earning your trust. If I make a mistake, I don't charge you for the time it takes to correct! While my normal rate currently is $15/hour, if you own a small business or are trying to get your own small business started, I offer special rates and my rate is not set in stone. I have one client who told me "look, I want to hire you but I can only pay $X per hour." X per hour it is!

Getting Things Done at the Speed of Now!!

The back story goes something like this. I've been an administrative assistant in various capacities and industries for more than 10 years and I love it. Sometimes I am 'the voice' or 'the gatekeeper' or 'her'; as long as I am able to help people get whatever they need to accomplish accomplished, I'm happy. As we all know, this is a tough job market. When I was younger, I'm 35 now, I was used to getting a call within a few days of submitting my resume or getting a letter telling me 'so sorry...' which was fine. After I was laid off not once but twice in less than 18 months, working in real estate and new construction, I decided this was my opportunity, the open door, if you will, to my dream of becoming a small business owner. I had always pondered what I would do and now I know.

I offer many administrative services including the following:

  • data entry

  • mail outs

  • e-mailing - checking e-mails and responding to various inquiries

  • blogging

  • URL testing and replacement

  • writing

  • copy editing

  • document and website editing

  • making phone calls (no cold calling or sales)

  • web research

  • basic HTML

  • Marketing

  • data mining

  • appointment setting

  • populating websites

  • updating databases

  • filing and online filing

  • ...and more!

Ask me about special introductory rates as well as rates for small business owners or project rates!
